The Cowick Street "Then and Now" Event
Sunday 4th June 2023

In June 2023 we were thrilled to present the culmination of a series of community-led activities celebrating the unique heritage of Cowick Street including:-

-A heritage photograph exhibition
-Oral histories and family connections
-Creative contributions from the children of WestExe Nurseries
-Refreshments

All created BY the people of Exeter, FOR the people of Exeter.

And what a day we had!!  Interactions of all kinds - stories in the well - creative play table - hanging exhibits - a guided heritage trail - all generations sharing!
With very special thanks to Neil le Milliere, Dorothy Simmonds and Jane Hope for providing the personal histories and memories that sparked so many connections and conversations.

Also to the children of WestExe Nursery who responded to those histories with their own artwork and thoughts.

Huge thanks too to participatory artist Megan Dowsett for helping us co-ordinate those responses to create such a colourful and inter-generational Exhibition Event.

Finally, to all the local residents who came together to create this people-led story.

Lovely to get an in depth look of a very localised part of the community I've grown up in. Wonderful also to listen to the memories of those who have lived here even longer than me!
Would love to see some more from 70's and 80's. Lovely exhibition.
