THE VISION
We're working towards a world where people are better connected to each other and to their place.
We believe that promoting our twin values of connectedness and equity of opportunity lies at the heart of helping our communities find their own, local solutions to loneliness and social isolation and to work towards environmental regeneration, reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and building community cohesion.

A LITTLE HISTORY
In 2011 JoJo Spinks, one of the founding members, became sick with a chronic condition which meant that she lost her paid work. So she wrote about that experience in her first play Severance and was thrilled (and surprised) that Alistair Ganley agreed to direct it. In fact, he did much more than that, bringing a cross art-form team together and working directly with participants who had shared the experience of severance from their work. Together they created a very socially-connected piece to great reviews. That was the beginning ....
In 2014 JoJo, an ex-archaeologist, spent best part of the year researching, meditating, theorizing on how it would look if you brought elements of the new circular, gift-economies together with socially connected Creative Placemaking and in early 2015 the first Squilometre launched ..
Now there are six Squilometres and 20 participating Associates who work, sociocratically, to create policy and we're learning and growing all the time.
